Wondering how you can ensure high-quality SEND support?
Mediated Learning Support Assistants (MeLSAs) could help! The MeLSA approach particularly focuses on the power of mediation, a type of support which helps learners to become independent thinkers. Supporting and training staff to pitch tasks at the right level for the pupil enables them to be ready to help 'in the moment'- increasing curriculum impact and maximising the potential learning opportunities.
How can MeLSAs help in my school?
MeLSAs learn about how to develop learner's independent thinking skills. The 5-day course course ensures that trainees can effectively mediate learning- targeting support on next steps and recognising emerging skills.
MeLSA training
MeLSA is a six day training course, covering: • Mediating • Growth mindset • Thinking about thinking • Memory and recall • Psychology of learning maths • Psychology of learning to read and write • Reviewing learning • Implementing MeLSA in your setting
After completing the training course, participants can join our annual membership offer. The ongoing small group supervision and borough-wide network meetings support participants to put their learning into practice in school.
