What is a coronavirus pandemic?
It is hard to explain what is going on to children at times when it is confusing and complicated for us as adults. At Learning & Wellbeing Psychology we wanted to put together a social story as a resource that could be used by parents to give information to their children in a way that was both honest and reassuring. We hope that although this story is for children who struggle to understand the social world, that it might also be useful for all parents who want to talk to their children in a helpful way. Research tells us that stories work best when the adult writing them have though carefully about what the child does not understand yet, and what they need to know. This means that story can only be a model or template for a story that you write for your own child.
